Privacy Policy
How CORE-UG collects, uses, stores and protects your information.
Last updated: July 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how the Global Center of Excellence for Restoration Earth Uganda (“CORE-UG”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you use this website, submit a form, or create a member account. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide directly: your name, email address, organisation, and any message content when you use our contact or enquiry forms, or when you register for a member account (name, email and a password, which is always stored in encrypted form).
Information collected automatically: basic technical data such as your browser type and general usage of the site, used to keep the site secure and working well.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to respond to enquiries, administer partnerships and member accounts, send you account-related messages (such as email confirmation and password resets), and improve our services. We process this information on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interest in operating the organisation.
4. Member accounts
When you create an account, we store your name, email address and an encrypted (hashed) version of your password — we never store your password in plain text. We send a confirmation email to verify your address, and you may request a password reset at any time. You can ask us to close your account and remove your details.
5. Cookies and sessions
We use a strictly necessary session cookie to keep you signed in to the member area. This cookie does not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising cookies.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information where necessary to operate the site (for example, our hosting provider), where you have asked us to, or where required by law.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted password storage and secure database access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and review our practices regularly.
9. Your rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
10. Children
This site and our services are intended for adults and organisations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes take effect when posted on this page, and your continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact us
If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, please contact us at info@core-ug.org.
